Supporters

We’d like to thank:

  • All The Friends of Cannizaro Park, whose membership subscriptions are an invaluable source of funds for park projects
  • Our donors whose generosity enables us to deliver myriad improvements for the park. We received £14,705 in donations this year
  • The Environment Agency Natural Flood Management Programme for awarding Cannizaro Park £120,000 to carry out works on the pond area to reduce downstream flooding and improve drainage in the park
  • Merton Council for awarding us £30,000 from their Civic Pride fund to replace damaged drainage pipes
  • Our tireless team of gardening volunteers who turn up every week whatever the weather and keep the park looking wonderful. This year they replanted the bed in front of Hotel du Vin and planted 900 hedge whips along the boundary with the RWGC. And that is on top of all the regular care they give the park each week
  • Our incredible team of organisation volunteers who put on events, create our newsletter and Instagram feeds
  • Merton Green Spaces team and Merton Facilities Management for their support, partnership and encouragement. This has been a bumper year with:
    • funding for new noticeboards
    • jointly funding new estate fencing to protect rare and ageing rhododendrons
    • funding new wildlife resistant bins that have dramatically reduced litter in the park
    • Tree care for ten notable trees in the park, covering aerating and de-compacting their roots and giving them a generous mulch
    • Repairs to the Azalea Dell platform and parts of the Italian Garden wall
  • Common Works Gallery for organising the incredible Art in the Park 2023 event
  • EQ Investors for generously sponsoring Art in the Park 2023 and Kings College School for being an event supporter
  • Workshop 305, The Girl Guides and Kevin Herlilhy for their wonderful art displays in the Aviary
  • Idverde, and especially our Cannizaro Gardener for his support and for working with us on park projects; this year in particular for the new wildlife friendly mowing regime
  • Bright Pink Agency: for their pro bono services to support our website
  • The Tree Council for funding a new wildlife friendly hedge between the park and RWGC; and Royal Wimbledon Golf Club for supplying and planting part of the new hedge
  • The Brownies for creating a new Cannizaro Park brownie badge
